Willkie represented 5&2 Studios, an independent studio founded by Dallas Jenkins, creator of The Chosen, in its wide-ranging multi-year agreements with Amazon MGM Studios for exclusive streaming and theatrical rights to the first five seasons and future seasons of the global hit series about the life of Jesus, and rights to other original projects.
The widely reported agreement licenses Prime Video exclusive U.S. streaming rights to The Chosen franchise – the first five seasons and the upcoming final two seasons – as well as rights to a new unscripted series, The Chosen In The Wild With Bear Grylls. In addition, the agreement with Amazon MGM includes theatrical distribution rights to the new seasons of The Chosen and a first-look deal for future televisions and motion picture projects developed and produced by 5&2 Studios.
Willkie negotiated the streaming and theatrical deals for 5&2 Studios alongside Lionsgate and CAA and the first look and other deals for 5&2 Studios alongside CAA.
The Willkie team was led by partner Andrew Kramer and included counsel Aubrey Thomason and associate Mackenzie Storm.
