Douglass Mitchell is a partner in Willkie’s Litigation Department. He is based in the Firm’s Washington, DC office.

Doug has over 20 years of experience representing clients around the globe facing complex, high-stakes civil and criminal litigation matters. He has represented companies and individuals on multijurisdictional and often multibillion-dollar matters ranging from terrorism, civil, and criminal racketeering to challenges to state secrets issues, state immunity, and mortgage fraud.

His work is often precedent setting, including in matters involving invocation of the US government state secrets privilege and in mortgage fraud, racketeering, and organized crime matters.

Doug also represents victims of international terrorism in efforts to enforce multi-billion dollar judgments against terrorist states and organizations for participation in acts of terrorism against US citizens.

He is leading groundbreaking enforcement proceedings both in the United States and internationally that impact international law concerning the immunity of foreign states and their assets in the enforcement of terrorism judgments entered by US courts.
