Don J. Macbean is a partner in Willkie’s Corporate & Financial Services Department, focusing on energy and commodity-related transactions, derivatives and structured finance. He is based in the Firm’s New York office.
Don has represented clients across the energy sector in a broad range of transactions, including offtake arrangements, physically and financially-settled hedging transactions, tolling agreements, supply contracts, and transactions involving the purchase and sale of renewable energy credits and other environmental attributes. He regularly advises on energy and commodities-related transactions, project finance and development and renewable energy matters. His clients include financial institutions, insurance companies, underwriters, issuers and corporations.
In the derivatives space, Don works with issuers, sponsors, derivatives dealers and end-users in transactions including structured swaps, total return instruments, credit derivatives, repo contracts and other types of structured products. He also advises international clients on accessing the U.S. capital markets through complex debt issuances backed by mortgages and other related assets.
Don has been recognized in industry publications such as The Legal 500 US and regularly speaks at industry events on topics related to commodity-linked derivatives.
