Willkie and its lawyers have been recently recognized for their pro bono efforts.
To date in 2020, Willkie and its lawyers have received a total of five awards from different organizations in recognition of outstanding pro bono commitment. These have ranged from honors recognizing the firm’s overall pro bono program to those highlighting Willkie’s work in the areas of immigration rights and children’s defense, among others. Recent accolades include:
- Pro Bono Program of the Year (Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: North America 2020). Additionally, the firm and its attorneys were shortlisted for a total of seven awards by Chambers.
- 2020 #Proud andFree Law Firm Award (Immigration Equality)
- Partner Shaimaa Hussein won the 2020 Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award (City Bar Justice Center)
- Partner Heather Schneider was named 2020 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year (KIND - Kids in Need of Defense)
- Willkie and partner Richard Mancino, associates Ciara Copell and Annie Houghton-Larsen and discovery attorney Sarah Geiger received the Employee Recognition and Volunteer Appreciation Award (The Children’s Law Center)
To date, more than 375 Willkie attorneys across the firm have worked on pro bono matters in 2020, dedicating over 30,000 hours. The need for pro bono services is greater than ever and we are proud to work with underrepresented clients across a broad range of causes and issues.
