Five Willkie partners have been named to Variety’s Legal Impact Report 2025, an annual series recognizing the entertainment industry’s top attorneys:

  • Alex Weingarten, Managing Partner of Willkie’s Los Angeles Office and Chair of the Entertainment Litigation Practice 
  • Alan Epstein, Chair of the Entertainment Transactions Practice
  • Andrew Kramer, Chair of the Motion Picture, Television & Entertainment Finance Practice
  • Steve Hurdle, partner in the Entertainment Transactions Practice
  • Thomas Baxter, partner in the Entertainment Transactions Practice

Alex Weingarten was once again recognized as one of the foremost litigators and trial attorneys for the entertainment industry. Variety highlighted his recent arbitration victory on behalf of the producers of the global hit series The Chosen in a high-profile breach of contract suit. It also noted his role advising Leonard Cohen’s son in a dispute over the late songwriter’s estate, among other high-profile matters. This is the seventh time Alex has received the Legal Impact accolade.

Variety also recognized Alan Epstein, Andrew Kramer, Steve Hurdle and Thomas Baxter as market leaders that have helped make Willkie’s Entertainment & Media team an industry standout. The publication noted their success representing a broad range of clients across the entertainment and media landscape, including top production studios, Hollywood stars, advisory firms and satellite TV companies, on leading-edge transactions. This is the ninth time Alan Epstein has been recognized in the Legal Impact Report, and the fourth time Steve Hurdle has received the recognition.
