David Hong, partner in Willkie’s Asset Management Department, and Misty Sanford, West Coast Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Department, have been named to Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys 2025.”
Los Angeles Business Journal once again recognized them among the “standout minority attorneys considered to be particularly impactful on the legal scene while serving as trusted advisors in the L.A. region.” They were both similarly honored in 2023 as market leaders.
David Hong focuses on the formation and ongoing operation of private funds across the spectrum of asset classes, including private equity, credit, real estate, venture capital, growth equity, hedge and hybrid funds. He also regularly represents emerging and institutional private fund sponsors in connection with a broad range of matters, including fund formations, fund investment matters, seed capital arrangements, complex restructurings, the structure of their investment management businesses, and regulatory, compliance and operational issues.
Misty Sanford is widely recognized as a leading real estate transactional attorney. She has extensive experience advising a broad client base – her work includes deals for premier institutional investors, private equity firms, multinational corporations and developers – on loan workouts, public/private partnerships, real estate financing, complex mixed-use developments, as well as purchase and sale agreements, joint ventures, and leasing and reciprocal easement agreements, among other complex transactions.
In addition to her professional accolades, Misty has been recognized for her mentorship, civic leadership and pro bono contributions by the Mexican American Bar Foundation and UCLA School of Law.
