Willkie has been recognized in the Latin Lawyer 250, an annual guide to the top law firms in the Latin America market.
 
Latin Lawyer recognized Willkie among the “Recommended” international law firms in the region, highlighting its broad transactional strengths and recent success in high-profile mandates. The profile notes that Willkie “has demonstrated excellent transactional capabilities in the region.” In addition to commending Willkie’s mergers & acquisitions, private equity, banking and finance, and capital markets capabilities, Latin Lawyer noted that the firm’s deep experience in “energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, insurance and reinsurance also sets it apart from its competitors.”
 
Latin Lawyer noted that Willkie’s Latin America Practice Group regularly advises multinational corporations, financial institutions and investors – including the private equity industry’s premier sponsors – on sophisticated transactions in Latin America, as well as Latin American companies seeking to expand their operations worldwide. 
 
The publication recognized Anna Martini G. Pereira, Chair of the Latin America Practice Group and a partner in the Corporate & Financial Services Department, and Gregory Astrachan, Co-Chair of the Capital Markets Practice Group, for their leadership and accomplishments in notable market-leading transactions. It highlighted Willkie’s work in major cross-border M&A deals, including Ferrara Candy Company’s recent acquisition of Dori Alimentos, one of Brazil’s leading manufacturers and distributors of sweets and snacks, and Zurich Insurance Group’s sale of a $2.6 billion annuity portfolio to the Chilean subsidiary of Constellation Insurance. In addition, the publication noted Willkie’s role representing the Peruvian subsidiary of Sitios Latinoamérica in its inaugural bond issuance, worth $235 million.
