Melissa was recognized as one of the top real estate lawyers under the age of 40.

Partner Melissa Fischetti has been profiled in Law360 as a “Rising Star” in recognition of her leadership and accomplishments in notable real estate transactions. She is one of six attorneys recognized in the Real Estate category as a top real estate lawyer under the age of 40.

In a Q&A profile with Law360, Melissa discussed why she enjoys being a real estate attorney, some of the biggest deals she’s worked on and how she sees the practice changing in the coming years.

Melissa first joined Willkie as a summer associate, and immediately gravitated to real estate after completing her first rotation. In the article, she noted that she especially enjoyed the tangible nature of her work – looking out  of the office windows and seeing deals that she had worked on – which resonated with her and signified the impact of her work.

Law360 highlighted her role in Brookfield’s strategic partnership with King Street Properties, and SL Green's $1.76 billion acquisition of 245 Park Ave, through a successful bankruptcy auction, which involved a cross-disciplinary team of real estate, bankruptcy and litigation professionals.

In discussing the future of the real estate landscape, Melissa said that the market ups and downs have taught her the value of adaptability and patience. "There's always going to be changes and there's always going to be something that's going to hit the market that we have to respond to… but what I always see happening, and what I think I've learned over the last 10 years, is that you have to be able to adapt, to be able to learn new practice areas, to be able to be creative."
