Willkie has been recognized for its leadership in pro bono advocacy and commitment to serving the underrepresented in The American Lawyer’s 2024 Pro Bono Scorecard.

The firm earned a strong ranking in the annual survey, climbing more than 20 places from its 2023 position, reflecting the widespread commitment of Willkie’s attorneys to pro bono service. In addition, Willkie was recognized for its work to expand dental coverage for low-income New Yorkers, which The American Lawyer selected among the top 15 matters that represent “the very best of the legal industry’s pro bono efforts in 2023.”

The publication highlighted Willkie’s success in Ciaramella v. McDonald, a landmark class action that expanded coverage for medically necessary dental care for millions of Medicaid recipients in New York State. Read more about the widely covered settlement here.

The Pro Bono Scorecard ranks Am Law 200 firms based on the average number of pro bono hours per U.S.-based lawyer in 2023 and the percentage of lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of pro bono work.
