Anne Barrett, a partner in Willkie’s Corporate & Financial Services Department, has been named to Bloomberg Law’s “They’ve Got Next: 40 Under 40” as one of the leading lawyers of her generation.
Bloomberg Law recognized Anne as one of the “stellar young lawyers nationwide” for her leadership and accomplishments in sophisticated capital markets transactions. The publication also highlighted her commitment to mentoring up-and-coming attorneys and helping other women excel as leaders in the legal and financial services industries.
In a Q&A profile for the award, Anne discussed her legal practice, the sense of fulfillment she gets from helping clients and colleagues succeed, and the importance of giving your best at every opportunity.
“How you do anything is how you do everything,” Anne said. “This applies to both practice and people. Developing relationships with colleagues in other practice areas and treating everyone with respect—from the head of a practice group to the mailroom—is critical. Being part of a team that you can rely on and that can rely on you is critical.”
Anne also emphasized the importance of mentorship in the law, noting the impact that retired Willkie partner Leslie Mazza, a trailblazer in the field, had on her own career and approach to being an elite practitioner.
“She taught me that investing in those with whom you work is always worth it,” Anne told Bloomberg Law.
