Willkie litigation partners Charles Cording and Mathew Freimuth have been recognized among the “2024 Notable LGBTQIA+ Leaders” by Crain’s New York Business for their accomplishments in the law and efforts to promote equality and inclusion across the business community.

 

They were honored among the outstanding LGBTQIA+ professionals in New York City who are excelling in their fields and helping to create inclusive and equitable workplaces.

 

Charles Cording’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including securities class actions, shareholder derivative litigation, deal litigation, and other complex business disputes. Crain’s highlighted his role on the Willkie team that successfully represented AlixPartners before the U.S. Supreme Court in an appeal that limited the ability of parties to an arbitration abroad to compel discovery through orders from the federal courts. The publication also noted his pro bono work in support of LGBTQIA+ causes and individuals, including the New York City Pride Basketball league and asylum seekers.

 

Mathew Freimuth represents clients in antitrust and intellectual property disputes, as well as in complex commercial litigations and internal investigations in the areas of bankruptcy, insurance and securities. Crain’s noted his trial experience and highlighted his win on behalf of educational non-profit Edwell at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in a trademark case. It also highlighted his commitment to pro bono advocacy, including his work on behalf of incarcerated persons challenging the conditions of their confinement.
