D CEO named Willkie client Cetera Financial Group’s acquisition of Avantax, Inc. the “$1 Billion + Deal of the Year” at the Mergers & Acquisitions Awards 2024.
Willkie represented Cetera, the premier financial advisor Wealth Hub, in its approximately $1.2 billion acquisition of Avantax, a leader in tax-focused financial planning and wealth management. The take-private transaction, which closed in November 2023, established Avantax as a standalone business unit within Cetera.
The D CEO award, presented in partnership with the Association for Corporate Growth-DFW, recognized Cetera’s acquisition as one of the most impactful deals in North Texas last year.
The Willkie team was led by partners Jeffrey Poss, Manuel Miranda and Thomas Sharkey and included partners Joshua Deason and Jonathan Zane and associates Robert Quinn, Jacqueline Foley and Donald Eklund.
