Willkie and its attorneys have been shortlisted for four honors at the Chambers USA Awards 2024, recognizing the firm’s leadership in corporate social responsibility and the commitment of its lawyers to pro bono service and diversity in the law.
Willkie has been named among the finalists for “Pro Bono: Outstanding Firm” and “Environment & Sustainability: Outstanding Firm” in recognition of its efforts to serve the underrepresented and to be an industry-leader in sustainability.
Kim Walker, Willkie’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, has been shortlisted for the “DEI: Outstanding Contribution” award as a longtime diversity leader and champion of inclusion across the legal profession. Kim is also a partner in the Intellectual Property Department and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
M. Annie Houghton-Larsen, an associate in Willkie’s Litigation Department, has been selected as a finalist for the “DEI: Future Leader” award. Annie is a devoted advocate of DEI initiatives, and has an active pro bono practice focused on impact litigation on behalf of marginalized communities. She recently served on the Willkie team that won a $148 million jury verdict for Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss in their landmark defamation suit against Rudy Giuliani. She also had a significant role on the Willkie team that brought a federal class action lawsuit against the New York State Department of Health and secured expanded dental coverage for millions of Medicaid recipients in New York. Within the firm, Annie promotes diversity and advancement through her role in the summer associate recruitment process, and by serving as a mentor to up-and-coming associates.
The honorees will be recognized at a virtual awards ceremony on June 13.
