Alex Weingarten, Managing Partner of Willkie’s Los Angeles office and Chair of the firm’s Entertainment Litigation Practice, has been named among the “Top 100 Lawyers 2023” by the Daily Journal.
Alex was recognized on the annual list of the 100 best lawyers in California, further establishing him as one the entertainment industry’s foremost trial attorneys who represents clients in all facets of entertainment, probate and business litigation.
“I absolutely love what I do,” Alex told the Daily Journal. “I love the challenge of it. I love the intellectual stimulation that comes with it. I love to argue … I love to give a voice to people that don’t have one of their own.”
The publication noted his record of success in high-profile disputes, including a recent summary judgment ruling on behalf of Selena Gomez in an ongoing and potentially far-reaching lawsuit against a video game developer that made unauthorized use of her name and likeness. It also noted Alex’s role in securing a favorable settlement on behalf of Tom Petty’s children in a dispute over the administration rights of Petty’s music catalog.
Daily Journal also highlighted Alex’s success as Managing Partner of Willkie’s Los Angeles office, which he helped launch in 2021 and has grown to approximately 90 lawyers, including through a series of notable lateral hires.
