Partners David Hong and Misty Sanford have been named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys 2023.”
They are recognized among the 96 “standout minority attorneys considered to be particularly impactful on the legal scene while serving as trusted advisors in the LA region.” Both partners joined Willkie last year and are helping to drive the ongoing growth of the Los Angeles office, which opened in September 2021 and already numbers more than 70 lawyers.
David Hong is a partner in Willkie’s Asset Management Department, where he focuses on the formation and operation of private funds across the spectrum of asset classes, including private equity, credit, real estate, venture capital, growth equity, hedge and hybrid funds.
The publication also noted David’s work representing emerging and institutional private fund sponsors in connection with an array of sophisticated transactions, including fund formations and investments, seed capital arrangements, complex restructurings, and regulatory and compliance issues, among other matters.
Misty Sanford is Chair of Willkie’s West Coast Real Estate practice and a prominent real estate transactional attorney at the forefront of the field. Her comprehensive practice involves all aspects of real estate, with an emphasis on public/private partnerships, complex mixed-use developments, purchase and sale, finance, joint ventures, environmental issues, land use, leasing and workouts, which allows her to assist with the full lifecycle of real estate assets.
Los Angeles Business Journal noted Misty’s work representing leading institutional investors, private equity firms, developers, multinational corporations, REITs, foundations, non-profits and entrepreneurs. The publication highlighted her current role advising a joint venture between Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants in connection with the high-profile Mission Rock project in San Francisco.
