Hugo Nocerino, partner in Willkie’s Paris office, has been named one of the Private Equity Rising Stars 2022 by Law.com International. The award recognizes the top 25 private equity lawyers in the UK and Europe under the age of 40.
Profiled among “the best up-and-coming talent” in the market, Hugo discussed his career, the dynamism of the private equity practice and developments in the field.
“Private equity is meant for all lawyers who love challenge, complexity and variety,” he told Law.com International.
The publication noted Hugo’s “meticulous dedication” and record of success advising a wide range of transactions for leading sponsors based in the U.S. and Europe, including Syntagma Capital, PAI Partners and K Partners. It highlighted his role advising PAI Partners in its €2.3 billion sale of Perstorp to Petronas Chemicals Group, among other high-profile deals, as well as the impact he believes the private equity industry will continue to have globally.
“I believe that climate change is one of the key challenges that humanity is facing for the coming decades and that private equity sponsors can be a true partner for public authorities and other stakeholders in this fight,” he said. “To that effect, sponsors will need to continue their efforts to take into account ESG matters in their investment policies, the supervision of their portfolio companies and their own governance.”
Law.com International selected Hugo among the foremost young private equity lawyers in Europe, and one of just three honorees in France, based on several factors, including the quality of his client base; the scale, significance and complexity of his deals; client feedback and general market reputation; the standing of his mentor; and other examples of career success and innovation.
