Alex Weingarten, Managing Partner of Willkie’s Los Angeles Office and Chair of the Firm’s Entertainment Litigation Practice, has been named among The American Lawyer’s “2022 West Trailblazers.” The special supplement honors individuals who have “moved the needle” in the legal industry in the Western U.S. and are “agents of change.”
Alex is a leading commercial trial lawyer who represents clients in all facets of entertainment, probate and business litigation. In the “Trailblazer” profile, he discussed his experience handling family disputes and resolving the unique issues that arise in these highly charged scenarios. The profile focused on his success representing a trustee of a sizable trust in Chao et al. v. Chui et al., a dispute among family members, including minors, over the control of the trust and distribution of the assets.
The case “represents a victory for the notion that there is a vital role for the Courts to play in protecting children from manipulation and abuse by unscrupulous actors…even their parents,” Alex said. “Chui will help balance calls for reform of the guardianship and conservatorship systems by serving as a reminder of why they exist in the first place.”
The accolade further establishes Alex as a top litigator and trial attorney and a leader in the broader business community.
