Willkie has been named a finalist in The British Legal Awards 2020 for Restructuring Team of the Year. The firm is recognized for its role in advising a coordinating committee (CoCom) consisting of significant holders of Luxembourg-incorporated Lecta S.A.’s €600M senior secured notes (SSNs) on all aspects of the successful, comprehensive financial restructuring of the Lecta group, one of the largest paper manufacturers in Europe with plants in Spain, France and Italy. The transaction, which closed in February 2020, significantly deleveraged Lecta’s balance sheet, allowing it to continue its transformation into a speciality paper company.
The awards ceremony will take place virtually on November 19, with the winners announced at that time.
The cross-border, multidisciplinary Willkie team was led out of London by restructuring partners Graham Lane and Iben Madsen, and from Paris by restructuring partner Lionel Spizzichino. The team included lawyers from Willkie’s restructuring, capital markets, private equity, finance, tax, competition and compliance, investigations and enforcement teams. Willkie was assisted on the transaction by Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira (advising in respect of Spanish law) and Loyens & Loeff (advising in respect of Luxembourg law).
