Jason is a partner in the Restructuring Department. He has over 10 years of experience advising all types of stakeholders on complex domestic and international restructurings, insolvency proceedings and distressed situations. Jason also has further particular experience in offshore restructurings and insolvency proceedings in the Cayman Islands.
Experience
Prior to joining Willkie, Jason was an associate at Squire Patton Boggs (UK) LLP and practised as a Cayman Islands attorney at Walkers.
Willkie's London Restructuring team was shortlisted for "Restructuring Team of the Year" at the 2023 Legal Business Awards.
Willkie's London Restructuring team was shortlisted for "Restructuring Team of the Year" for its work on Lecta at The British Legal Awards 2020.
In January 2015, Willkie's international restructuring practice was named Bankruptcy Group of the Year by Law360, who noted that "the growth of the London practice, in particular, has had a domino effect in Europe, boosting the firm's profile in Paris and Frankfurt."
Jason is a member of the Insolvency Lawyers' Association.

- Lifeways. Advising one of the UK's largest care home providers, on the restructuring and recapitalisation of its business. The engagement is the first ever UK RP involving a CQC-regulated business
- Mediapro. Advising significant first and second lien lenders in connection with the recapitalisation of the Mediapro Group, a leading multimedia communications group in Spain
- Intu. Advising convertible bondholders in respect of the £375 million 2.875% guaranteed convertible notes issued by intu (Jersey) 2 Limited and the ongoing administration of intu Properties plc and other intu group companies
- Spartan Races. Advising Spartan on the pre-packaged sale and purchase of Tough Mudder out of administration
- Lecta. Acting for the coordinating committee of senior secured noteholders in connection with the comprehensive restructuring of Lecta’s €600 million senior secured notes by way of scheme of arrangement, and further acting for a group of underwriting shareholders and senior secured noteholders in connection with the company’s subsequent recapitalisation transaction
- Mongolian Mining Corporation. Advising the company and its joint provisional liquidators on its c.$800 million complex, international bank/bond restructuring, led by a Cayman Islands scheme of arrangement. The matter was named restructuring deal of the year by the IFLR Asia Awards 2018
- Ocean Rig. Advising a significant creditor in relation to the $3.8 billion restructuring of the Ocean Rig group of companies, implemented by four interlinked Cayman Islands schemes of arrangement and Chapter 15 recognition
- CORE Media Group. Representing the production company behind the TV shows American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance in its Chapter 11 case, including obtaining precedent-setting recognition of one of the UK debtor’s Chapter 11 proceedings as a foreign main proceeding under the Cross-Border Insolvency Regulations 2006
- Latécoère. Advising significant investment funds who led a lender working group in the completion of Latécoère’s financial restructuring comprising a partial debt-for-equity swap and new money injection
- Eitzen. Advising the Eitzen Group, a leading Norwegian chemicals shipping company, on the international elements of its successful debt-for-equity restructuring
