

Paul Rivera is counsel in Willkie’s Litigation Department and is based in the Firm's San Francisco office. Paul advises clients in complex litigation and regulatory matters and is a trusted advisor on all aspects of information governance, data, and electronic discovery. He helps clients establish policies that position them to address challenges related to their data practices, thinking strategically to navigate and problem-solve complex data and discovery issues. His extensive experience includes negotiating ESI protocols and protective orders, formulating customized collection and review strategies, and defending discovery disputes in high-stakes matters.
Experience
Prior to joining Willkie, Paul served as discovery counsel for Google’s litigation and regulatory affairs teams, where he spent 12 years advising on some of the most complex and high-profile litigation and antitrust matters in the tech industry. He has experience working on internal investigations, privacy incidents, and has counseled teams on the use and deployment of AI tools.
