Patricia O. Haynes is a partner in Willkie’s Litigation Department.  She focuses on complex commercial litigation, securities litigation, and white collar criminal defense.  Tricia represents both corporate and individual clients, including large financial institutions, insurance companies, public companies, and private equity firms.  She has represented clients in criminal investigations and enforcement actions involving the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and FINRA.

Experience

Complex Commercial Litigation, Securities Litigation, and White Collar Criminal Defense Matters

  • Representing an employee of a large automobile manufacturer in a criminal investigation brought by the U.S. Department of Justice arising from alleged misrepresentations regarding diesel emissions.
  • Representing insurers in coverage litigation and bankruptcy proceedings regarding disputes over coverage for mass tort claims.
  • Represented a leading financial services organization in earn-out litigation arising from its acquisition of a diversified investment management company. 
  • Represented various self-regulating organizations in disputes regarding proposed rule changes and other regulatory developments before the SEC and Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.  
  • Represented a private equity firm in securities and shareholder litigation and related governmental inquires related to a global cybersecurity event.
  • Represented a major television network and certain current and former officers and directors in putative class action alleging securities violations related to allegations of wrongdoing by former CEO and obtained favorable settlement of securities class action.

Pro Bono Matters

  • Represented amicus curiae before United States Supreme Court in Gloucester County School Board v. G.G. (Brief of National PTA, GLSEN And Other Education Organizations As Amicus Curiae Supporting Respondent)
  • Represented  amicus curiae National PTA, GLSEN and other education organizations in support of transgender high school students seeking equal access to restrooms and other school facilities, before Courts of Appeals in the following actions:
    • Adams v. School Board of St. Johns County (18-13592) (11th Cir.)
    • Doe v. Boyertown Area School District (17-3113) (3d Cir.) 
    • Board of Education of Highland School v. Doe (16-4117 (6th Cir.)
