Aimee Contreras-Camua is a partner in the Real Estate Department in Willkie’s Los Angeles office. Her practice focuses on complex commercial real estate transactions.
With a legal career spanning over 20 years, Aimee has represented a broad range of clients, including institutional lenders, real estate funds, opportunity funds, investment banks, life insurance companies, major residential developers and other real estate investors in a wide range of commercial real estate transactions.
Aimee has extensive experience with a variety of real estate asset types, including full-service resorts, industrial facilities, office buildings, retail developments and multifamily properties. She provides solutions for clients and their most complex needs across an extensive range of transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financing, acquisitions and dispositions of single assets, equity interests and portfolio transactions, mortgage origination for commercial mortgage-backed securitization programs, sale-leasebacks, joint ventures and leasing.

Experience
Prior to joining Willkie in 2022, Aimee was a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. She previously served as general counsel on secondment for a subsidiary of a multinational investment bank and financial services company, and as outside counsel for a real estate firm specializing in the development of luxury branded residential and resort communities with operations in California, Hawaii, Colorado and Mexico. Earlier in her career, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Aimee is extremely active in the Asian American community and the Los Angeles legal community. She currently serves as President of the Asian Pacific American Women Lawyers Alliance and is on the board of the UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association and the Philippine American Bar Association Foundation. She also serves as Co-Chair of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Real Estate Committee, and has served as a board member of the former California Bar Foundation and the Executive Advisory Council for Asian Americans Advancing Justice Los Angeles. Aimee also provides probono legal services to The Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST), a Los Angeles–based nonprofit organization that is working to put an end to modern slavery and human trafficking through comprehensive, life-transforming services to survivors including providing emergency and transition housing.
Aimee has advised on the following significant matters*:
- A large institutional lender in connection with an aggregate $1.3 billion mortgage and mezzanine financing secured by a portfolio of 154 hotel properties in 32 states and in the CMBS standalone securitization of the $775 million mortgage loan component of the financing.
- An opportunity fund in connection with the purchase of 33 net leased properties, representing a variety of asset classes, located across the United States and Canada for a purchase price of $1.5 billion dollars.
- A large institutional lender in connection with an agented securitization transaction consisting of ten mortgage loans totaling approximately $875 million secured by 10 Class A office properties located in California.
- A large institutional lender in the origination of an aggregate $503 million mortgage and mezzanine financing secured directly and indirectly by 261 restaurant properties in 34 states.
- An opportunity fund in connection with the sale of a large portfolio of net-leased real estate assets for approximately $950 million.
- A large concrete manufacturing company, as seller/tenant, in connection with a $220 million sale-leaseback transaction involving 51 manufacturing/industrial warehouse properties located in 22 states in the United States and in 2 provinces in Canada.
- A privately-held commercial real estate finance company in connection with a $40 million construction financing involving the conversion of an apartment building to a condominium project in Los Angeles, California.
- A corporate investor and a performing arts center group in construction renovation projects in Beverly Hills and Downtown Los Angeles.
