Celine Buttanshaw is an associate in Willkie’s Restructuring Department in London. Ms. Buttanshaw has experience advising buy side investors, lender and bondholder committees with their contingency planning and early options analysis with a focus on complex cross border stressed and distressed restructurings and insolvency proceedings. Ms. Buttanshaw also has further particular experience in emerging and frontier market restructurings across a range of industries including agriculture, consumer, care home, oil and gas, mining, real estate, aviation, shipping and projects. Ms. Buttanshaw is recognised by The Legal 500 as a Key Lawyer in Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency.

  • Advising the ad hoc group of holders of €307.5 million senior secured notes in the financial restructuring of AFE S.A. SICAV-RAIF.
  • DTEK Energy. Acting for the lender committee in the restructuring of approximately US$2 billion liabilities of Ukraine’s largest energy company.*
  • Mriya Agro. Advising the senior noteholder committee and acting as transaction counsel in the landmark US$1 billion restructuring of this Ukrainian agricultural company.* 
  • A securitisation. Advising the liquidity facility and swap providers on the restructuring of a £1 billion ground rent securitisation.* 
  • China Fishery Group: Advising the lender agent in the English law aspects of the restructuring of China Fishery Group involving a US Chapter 11 restructuring and UK Restructuring Plan of borrowings in excess of US$1.6 billion.* 
  • Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA. Advising the company on its recapitalization and restructuring, of its operating leases, with particular focus on the relationship between the English companies the group and the Irish examinership process.*
  • Interpipe: Advising a material creditor on the restructuring of this Ukrainian steel pipe producer.*
  • A mining company in Mongolia. Acting for a development bank on the refinancing of a Mongolian mining company whilst catering for insolvency risk at multiple levels across multiple jurisdictions.*
  • Lemtrans. Assisting a US based hedge fund in the acquisition and successful restructuring of approx. US$150 million of non-performing loans backed by railcars in Ukraine.*
  • Norshore Atlantic. Assisting the noteholder committee in the controlled enforcement over the assets of Norshore Atlantic.*
    NMC Health. Advising our client on this restructuring involving UK and Abu Dhabi Global Market administrations.*
