Willkie represented Media Capital Technologies (MCT) in connection with its partnership with filmmaker Eli Roth to launch The Horror Section, a new 360 media company and production studio focused on the horror genre.
MCT acquired a minority stake in The Horror Section and will provide co-financing for a majority of the films on the company’s film slate. In addition to producing and distributing original films theatrically, The Horror Section will pursue projects across television, gaming, podcasts, and live events.
The novel partnership also gives fans of Eli Roth’s work, such as the Cabin Fever franchise, the Hostel franchise, Knock Knock, and Thanksgiving, the opportunity to invest in the venture alongside MCT. The Horror Section plans to give accredited and non-accredited investors worldwide up to a 10 percent stake in the company.
