Willkie is advising Genstar Capital in a majority investment in First Eagle Investments, an independent, privately owned investment management firm.
On March 3, First Eagle Investments announced it signed a definitive agreement under which private equity funds managed by Genstar Capital – a leading private equity firm focused on investments in targeted segments of the financial services, software, healthcare and industrials industries—will make a majority investment in First Eagle.
First Eagle is headquartered in New York and focuses on active, fundamental and benchmark-agnostic investing, with an emphasis on downside mitigation, across equity, fixed income, alternative credit and multi-asset strategies. First Eagle has approximately $144 billion in assets under management as of December 31, 2024.
The transaction with Genstar is expected to bolster First Eagle’s strategy of investing in its core business while expanding the range of high-quality, differentiated investment solutions it offers clients worldwide.
