New York, NY, March 12, 2025 -- Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP announced today that private funds lawyer Sam Weber has joined the Firm as a partner in the Asset Management Department. He is based in New York.

“Sam is a talented private funds lawyer who brings diverse fund formation and transactional experience for leading industry sponsors to our global private funds team,” said Phil Isom, Chair of Willkie’s Private Funds practice group. “His deep skill set across various asset classes and substantial experience with credit funds will further extend the capabilities of our global team as we continue to see increased sponsor and investor demand for legal services.”

Sam advises fund sponsors on a wide range of strategic and operational matters, including the formation, marketing and management of private investment funds, portfolio investment activities, fund regulatory and compliance matters, and firm ownership and operational issues. Sam has significant experience counseling both established and emerging sponsors across varied investment strategies – from advising established sponsors in multibillion dollar global fundraising mandates to guiding emerging managers through all aspects of establishing their operations and raising capital. In particular, Sam has extensive experience advising managers of credit platforms on a wide range of issues. Sam’s experience includes advising asset managers on the formation of closed-end and open-end direct lending, mezzanine, asset based credit, special situations, specialty finance, aviation, opportunistic and distressed funds, as well as establishing separate account structures for a variety of U.S. and non-U.S institutional investors. Sam also counsels diversified asset managers in connection with the launch of their credit platforms, including on related regulatory, compliance and operational issues.

Sam joins a team of 25 partners in Willkie’s Private Funds practice group who focus specifically on private fund formation and liquidity solutions transactions across the Firm’s offices in New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, London, Paris and Frankfurt. He was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.
