New York, NY, October 11, 2023 -- Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP today announced that Tony Johnston has joined the Firm as a partner in the Corporate & Financial Services Department. He practices in Dallas and is based in the Firm’s Houston office.
An experienced private equity attorney who has led complex deals across the energy and infrastructure sector, Tony is the fifth energy partner to join Willkie this year. Last month, Willkie welcomed a three-partner renewable transactions team – Global Chair of Power & Renewable Energy Eric Pogue, and partners Amanda Rosenberg and Samantha Leavitt – to its New York and Los Angeles offices, and in February, energy M&A partner Tan Lu joined Willkie’s Houston office.

Tony advises private equity firms, portfolio companies and financial institutions on strategically important and complex transactions, with a particular focus on energy and infrastructure sector transactions. He regularly advises on investments, M&A, joint ventures, financial sponsor-management team partnerships, preferred equity investments and restructurings for clients across the energy spectrum – ranging from oil and gas to energy transition matters. He also guides private equity firms and their funds throughout their life cycles, including through the formation, investment and monetization processes. Tony was most recently a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.
