October 23, 2023

From October 23-27, Willkie is celebrating Pro Bono Week 2023 with activities across the Firm highlighting our longstanding commitment to pro bono service. We also recognize the exceptional results and groundbreaking victories our lawyers and volunteers achieved this year on behalf of pro bono clients across various legal issues.

This year’s Pro Bono Week features in-person presentations highlighting Willkie’s high-profile work on major litigation matters involving election rights, healthcare coverage, criminal justice and defamation. The Firm’s work on Toomey v. Arizona (transgender healthcare rights), Petteway v. Galveston County (voting rights), Freeman v. Giuliani and In re: Alexander Emeric Jones (defamation) will be discussed, among other matters. Speakers from some of our partner organizations will also participate in select panels.

The Firm and its attorneys have been recognized for pro bono efforts this year, including being honored as a Chambers D&I Finalist for Pro Bono Excellence, several AmLaw Litigator of the Week runner-up and shout-out honors for pro bono victories, and inclusion on The American Lawyer A-List, which cited the Firm’s pro bono work in the ranking.

The Firm was also recognized with several honors from pro bono and legal organizations this year, including Legal Services NYC Excellence in Pro Bono Award,  NYSBA Outstanding Pro Bono Service Awards, UCLA Law Pro Bono and Public Interest Award, DC Judicial Conference Outstanding Pro Bono Service award, and Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll, among others.
