Willkie advised Ferrara Candy Company, the largest sugar confections company in the U.S., on its agreement to acquire Dori Alimentos, one of Brazil’s leading manufacturers and distributors of sweets and snacks.
Announced on July 24, the acquisition will be made through CTH, the lead holding company of Ferrara. Dori, one of Brazil’s largest manufacturers and distributors of healthy peanut snacks, sweet snacks and chocolate snacks, is a family-controlled company backed by an affiliate of ACON Investments, an international private equity firm based in Washington, D.C.
Headquartered in Chicago for more than 115 years and privately owned, Ferrara is the top-selling U.S. sugar confections company and the manufacturer of 20 brands including Black Forest®, Brach’s®, NERDS®, SweeTARTS®, and Trolli®. Ferrara is a related company of The Ferrero Group, one of the world’s largest chocolates and confectionary companies.
The Willkie team was led by partners Maria-Leticia Ossa Daza and Anna Martini G. Pereira and included associate Sidney Nunez, law clerks Johana Borjas-Pavon and Isabela Sanchez, and visiting foreign law clerk Maria Clara Castro do Egito Coelho.
