On March 31, Willkie client STARK Group, a leading business-to-business merchant and distributor of heavy building materials for the construction industry in Europe, announced its acquisition of Schilowsky Baumarkt und Baustoffhandel KG, one of the leading builders' merchants in Austria.
The acquisition is the second significant acquisition by STARK Group in Austria, furthering the company's growth strategy. Schilowsky has approximately 170 employees and generates annual sales of more than 125 million euros.
Willkie previously advised Copenhagen-based STARK Group on numerous transactions, including the acquisitions of Dach & Wand Handels GmbH, an Austrian building material distributor, and Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Ltd, a leading building materials retailer and distributor in the UK.
The Willkie team was led by partners Dr. Michael Ilter and Dr. Kamyar Abrar, and included partner Dr. Jens-Olrik Murach and associates Andrej Popp, Dr. Maximilian Schatz and Friederike Hammwöhner.
