The Kyrgyz Republic designated Sergey to the Panel of Arbitrators for a six-year term.
Willkie counsel Sergey Alekhin has been appointed by the Kyrgyz Republic to the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the foremost global institution for the resolution of international investment disputes.
Sergey is one of four designees of the Kyrgyz Republic available for selection to ICSID tribunals and ad hoc committees. Designees serve a renewable term of six years. There are approximately 380 arbitrators and conciliators representing 165 Signatory and Contracting States that have agreed to arbitrate investment disputes before ICSID.
Sergey recently assisted the Kyrgyz Republic with depositing its Instrument of Ratification of the ICSID Convention with the World Bank. The ICSID Convention establishes the institutional and legal framework for foreign investment dispute settlement. It was created to facilitate investment amongst countries by providing an independent, depoliticized forum for arbitration, conciliation, mediation and fact-finding.
