The SAEB is an important component of the U.S. Department of Energy’s strategy to improve its research and development portfolio and program activities.
Norman Bay, Co-Chair of Willkie’s Energy and Commodities Group, and Head of the Energy Regulatory and Enforcement Group in Washington, has been appointed to the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) advisory committee. The SAEB is an important component of DOE’s strategy to improve its research and development portfolio and program activities. The diverse group of individuals serving on the SAEB will provide advice and recommendations on departmental priorities as DOE accelerates the clean energy revolution.
The SEAB meets quarterly to advise the Secretary on how best to achieve the priorities of the department, help identify emerging issues related to the DOE’s activities, and offer suggestions for improvements to its operation. Members are appointed for a two-year term.
Norman previously served as Chairman, Commissioner and Director of the Office of Enforcement of FERC, during one of the most active periods in the history of the independent federal agency’s enforcement program. As Chairman, he was integral in shaping FERC’s policy and conducting stakeholder outreach on a wide variety of issues relating to the wholesale electricity and natural gas markets.
He is a thought leader in the energy industry, regularly advising clients on a range of energy market issues, including enforcement and compliance, policy and ratemaking, mergers and acquisitions, and infrastructure development.
