Willkie’s London Office celebrated Pro Bono Week UK the week of November 2-6 with several activities highlighting the importance of pro bono work and recognizing and supporting the contributions made by lawyers at Willkie and across the UK in providing legal help to those in need.

Speakers from IBA’s Pro Bono Committee, A4ID (Advocates for International Development) and LawWorks gave presentations on the use of technology in pro bono, international pro bono work, crossover and relevance of sustainable development goals to pro bono work, both in the UK and internationally. A presentation on Willkie’s London pro bono and community service work discussed the firm’s involvement in initiatives such as Stop Hate UK and Re-engage.

To date, more than 375 Willkie attorneys across the firm have worked on pro bono matters in 2020, dedicating over 30,000 hours. Of the more than 135 new pro bono matters that were opened this year, about 95 were started since March, demonstrating the increased need for pro bono services since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold on communities.
