On December 29, 2006, the FCC announced that it had approved AT&T's acquisition of BellSouth subject to extensive conditions designed to address the public policy harms posed by the merger. Willkie's Telecommunications Department represented Time Warner Telecom Inc. ("TWTC") in obtaining unprecedented conditions pursuant to which the merged AT&T-BellSouth must lower the rates charged to competitors like TWTC for broadband local transmission by approximately $500 million across the AT&T-BellSouth network footprint. The Willkie team representing TWTC included partner Thomas Jones and associates Jonathan Lechter, Grace Koh, Megan Stull, and Daniel Alvarez.
