Nomura Holdings, Inc. announces agreement to purchase global agency-broker Instinet Inc. from private equity firm Silver Lake Partners.

On  November 2, Willkie client Nomura Holdings, Inc. announced that it has agreed to purchase global agency-broker Instinet Inc., a major provider of electronic trading services for institutional investors, from private equity firm Silver Lake Partners.  Tokyo-based Nomura, one of Japan's largest financial services providers, will acquire Instinet through a subsidiary in an all cash transaction.   The acquisition will allow Nomura to match its strong client base with Instinet’s advanced trading platforms and products, especially in Asia and Europe, where electronic trading continues to grow.  The transaction gives Nomura an additional 1,500 institutional clients worldwide, including mutual funds, hedge funds, and pension funds.  The deal was handled by partners Daniel Rubino and Kelsy Nix; special counsel Martin Miller; and associates Aaron Katzel, Leslie Spencer, Katherine Schroeder, Johanna Ferraro, Sophie Bosquet and Kathryn Fugina
