On August 8, Willkie client Insight Venture Partners, a leading private equity firm in the area of software and technology investments, announced the acquisition of, and investment in, eCommerce Industries, Inc. (ECI2). A leading developer of industry-specific business systems, ECI2 plans to use the funds to support growth into new vertical markets through new product development and the acquisition of enterprise resource planning (ERP) companies with significant domain expertise. In conjunction with the closing of the investment, Insight supported ECI2's acquisition of Britannia Inc., a leading automation provider for the office products industry. Insight ECI2 provides ERP business software to small and medium-sized enterprises that serve as dealers, distributors, and resellers in specific vertical industries, including business products, IT consumables, office furniture, and machines and equipment, among others. The transaction was handled by partners Gordon Caplan and William Dye; and associates Morgan Elwyn, Jeffrey Goldfarb and Matthew Guercio.
