Willkie is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2006, Bernard A. Nigro, Jr., the Federal Trade Commission’s Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition, will be joining the firm’s Washington office.
Willkie is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2006, Bernard A. Nigro, Jr., the Federal Trade Commission’s Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition, will be joining the firm’s Washington office. Mr. Nigro will specialize in complex civil and criminal antitrust matters. Serving as Deputy Director since July 2003, Mr. Nigro supervised the Bureau’s merger and non-merger enforcement divisions. In addition to leading the Commission in numerous high-profile actions, he is credited with having played a key role in the development of the agency’s policies with respect to merger and non-merger matters, compliance, and pre-merger notification.
Mr. Nigro’s extensive experience at the Federal Trade Commission included supervising the investigation and litigation of major mergers and acquisitions in a spectrum of industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, healthcare, defense, aerospace, music, tobacco, chemicals and high technology. He recently co-chaired the publication of the ABA’s Telecom Antitrust Handbook, is a Committee Co-Chair of the ABA’s Section on Antitrust Law and previously chaired its Communications Industry Committee.
