PAI partners signs agreement to acquire Sydsvenska Kemi, the holding company of Swedish specialty chemicals group Perstorp AB, from private equity house Industri Kapital for an enterprise value of approximately €1 billion. 

On October 19, it was announced that Willkie client PAI partners, the European private equity firm, signed an agreement to acquire Sydsvenska Kemi, the holding company of Swedish specialty chemicals group Perstorp AB, from private equity house Industri Kapital for an enterprise value of approximately €1 billion.  Perstorp AB, which focuses on value-added additives for the coating industry, is one of the world’s leading producers of specialty chemicals for niche markets. The Perstorp Group currently employs around 1,600 people and has manufacturing operations in eight countries in Europe, North America and Asia.  As noted in the October 20 issue of The Daily Deal, the transaction was handled by Paris partners Daniel Payan, Eduardo Fernandez and Cédric Hajage; special European counsel Jeffrey Fouts; and associate Noam Ankri.  The Willkie team also comprised partner William Gump and associate Evan Reed from the New York office; special counsel Carolyn Conking and associate Alexander Schmandt from the Washington office; and special European counsel Julian Lemor and associate Dirk Peter from the Frankfurt office.
