On December 4, 2002, tax partner Andrew W. Needham addressed the New York CPA Society Taxation of Financial Products Conference on recent developments in the taxation of convertible and contingent debt. Mr. Needham’s speech addressed a recent ruling of the IRS on the taxation of “contingent” convertible debt and its effects on the market for these securities among various classes of investors. The event, which was sponsored by the Foundation for Accounting Education, was held at The Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. Andrew Needham specializes in mergers and acquisitions and the taxation of private equity funds, as well as general tax planning to preserve net operating losses and other tax attributes.
