Four Willkie partners will be speaking at The American Property Casualty Insurance Association’s (APCIA) Western Region General Counsel Conference in San Diego. The event is being held from July 25 to July 27.
On July 26 at 10:55 am PT, Kara Baysinger, partner and Co-Chair of Willkie’s Insurance Regulatory and Insurtech groups, will lead a panel, “Rate Regulation in the Western States,” discussing state priorities relating to P&C rates, and about current issues in the insurance markets. The panel will also discuss practical advice on presenting rate filings and navigating the rate filing process in their state.
On July 26 at 1:15 pm PT, Stephanie Duchene, partner and Co-Chair of Willkie’s Insurtech practice, and Daniel Alvarez, partner and Co-Chair of Willkie’s Privacy, Cybersecurity & Data Strategy Practice Group, will be participating in a breakout session, “California Privacy Regulations,” which will walk through the impact of the CPRA regulations and proposed new NAIC model law on the collection, disclosure and use of information gathered in connection with insurance transactions.
On July 26 at 4:10 pm PT, Laura Geist, litigation partner, will participate in a panel, “Class Action Update and PAGA Forecast,” which will provide an overview of key class action cases involving property casualty insurers. Focus will be on trends in class litigation, issues to look out for in future cases and an update on what to expect with PAGA and The Reformation Act vote in 2024.
