On June 22 and 23, three Willkie attorneys will speak at CalCPA’s Entertainment Industry Conference, an annual event hosted by the California Society of CPAs.
On June 22 at 10:05 am PT, Alan Epstein, chair of the Firm’s Entertainment Transactions Practice, will moderate the panel, “Anatomy of Sweat Equity Deals,” discussing the corporate, tax and business issues which arise when a celebrity/service provider receives a grant of “sweat equity” in consideration of the performance of services and grant of rights in the context of endorsement and brand ambassador deals.
On June 22 at 12:50 pm PT, Jared Bartie, chair of the Firm's Sports Transactions Practice, will participate in a panel, “Tax, Accounting and Legal Issues in Professional Sports.”
On June 23 at 1:35 pm PT, Willkie Digital Works counsel Michael Selig will participate in a panel, “Fallout of FTX,” which will address issues such as 83(b), equity deals, entertainer’s liability, naming rights and sponsorship, endorser’s liability, and tax aspects of digital assets.
