Topic: The Dodd-Frank Act brings many types of swap transactions within the jurisdiction of the Commodity Exchange Act and grants authority to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to regulate swap transactions and their participants. The Dodd-Frank Act introduces a broad definition of “swap” into the CEA, as well as new categories of CFTC registrants known as “swap dealers” and “major swap participants.”
